Pokémon Adventures is a message board based roleplaying game (RPG), where participants adopt Pokémon, take care of them, train them, and even battle! Pokémon are managed through topics in the Adopted Pokémon forum. Each topic there corresponds to one Pokémon. Each topic tells the story of that Pokémon--its life, development, and advancement. Think of each Pokémon as a fan fiction about that Pokémon. You may develop the story as much or as little as you want.
Throughout these rules, we will refer to "storytelling" and "roleplaying." Please be aware of the differences between these two terms, as they are not synonymous. Storytelling means writing an installment of an ongoing story. The writer of a story writes the parts for all of the characters involved. In roleplaying, the player speaks only for himself and any characters that he controls directly. In this game, all POkemon and characters other than the players themselves are roleplayed by the staff. Please be mindful of this as you read these rules and as you participate in Pokemon Adventures.
When storytelling, be descriptive. Do not post, "Pikachu learns Agility." Rather, give us some details on how you have Pikachu learns Agility. (Or rather, how you taught Pikachu Agility.) If you are unfamiliar with storytelling/roleplaying or just can't think of something clever to post, please mention this in the Feedback forum. We'll help you come up with something clever to put there. Keep in mind that the more you practice it, the better you'll become.
If you are storytelling, please post no more than once per day in your Pokémon topic. If you want to add something to your post from the same day, edit the existing post. Roleplaying generally consists of the player dialoging with a gamemaster, so in that case you may have more than one post on the same day. In general, follow RPTCG's rules on posting and spamming.
Please read all of the rules before entering the game, and before asking the staff your question. If you still cannot find the answer to your question, please post in the Requests and Feedback forum.
The staff members covering Pokemon Adventures are listed in the nav bar at right. The Game Master and Assistant Game Masters (AGMs) are responsible for maintaining the rules of the game, making rulings, resolving conflicts and managing roleplaying. The assistants have the authority to operate as game masters in trainer topics, Pokemon topics and battles, and have moderator privileges in the Pokemon Adventures forums.
